Code of Conduct for Parents

For Parents and Guardians

Parents and guardians are an integral part of the smooth running of Chelmsford Gymnastics Club. As a parent or guardian, we ask that you respect and adhere to the following:

· Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians until handed over to the coach at reception. Please do not leave children unsupervised prior to the start of their class.

· Encourage your child to participate; to know the rules and participate within them, remember that children learn best by example.

· Focus on your child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.

· Respect coaches’ and other officials’ decisions and teach your child to do likewise. Show appreciation of volunteers, coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate.

· When your child represents the club at events or competitions, set a good example by applauding the good performances of all and encourage good sportsmanship.

· Criticism of other people’s children/coaches can be upsetting to all and is frowned upon by this club. Please refrain from doing so.

· Please avoid any behaviour that could be perceived as intimidating. This includes threatening, bullying and bringing the club or its coaches into disrepute.

· Any problems regarding your child, please speak directly to the appropriate coach.

· Please support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy the sport.

· In the case of absence, a message should be left with the gym, prior to the start of the training session.

· Keep the club informed of any injuries or illness that may affect their safe participation in the session.

· Always ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the activity and has plenty to drink.

· Please do not enter the gym unless specifically requested to do so by a coach.
